Post Workout Date Treats

If you're anything like me you probably think about chocolate 23 hours of the day. Ok, maybe that's an understatement...23.5 hours...That's more like it.

 

So instead of standing in the grocery isles staring at all of the packages of chocolate (which I absolutely do with no shame - and usually lasts about 10 minutes or more)... and establishing some sort of argument as to why it would be ok to eat an entire package of (insert chocolate bar name here), I went home to make my own version of yumminess that I wouldn't have to feel icky about. FYI -I do this at least once a week.

 

 

Now it does go without saying that it isn't beneficial to down these babies 24/7. They are still high in natural sugars due to the dates and raisins. But used in the right way they can be a great post-workout reward by replenishing your glucose levels that you used up during your kick**s work out. Right??

 

The Key here is Action! Make the food/prepare for the week/get fit/feel awesome.


Yes, it's that simple.

 

Here's the recipe that will get you started:

 

1 cup dates, softened in hot water

1/2 cup Thompson raisins

1/3 cup ground flax seed

1/4 cup almond butter

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp cocoa powder - use good quality, it makes a huge difference in the flavour

3 tbsp pumpkin seed protein powder (your use your favourite type)

 

Easy Assembly:

Mix all ingredients in food processor until mixture has come together.

Scoop with tablespoon and form into a ball shape.

Chill until ready to eat (approx. 45 minutes).

 

That wasn't too hard at all!

 

Now your one step towards preparing healthy snacks for the week...and one or two less stops in front of the chocolate section...
